Timber Loft

Headquarters for Webber Construction in West Texas

The project for a small office building is based on an open floor loft typology, used widely for commercial and light industrial applications. The choice of a glulam roof structure allows for larger structural bays and less pillars, which in turn enables a more flexible use of the office space. A simple single pitch roof enables the tall glass walls to become skylights for the deep open floor, guaranteeing abundant natural light for every workstation. The use of a pitched roof also enables a longitudinal mezzanine level along the north facade. Meeting rooms and other common services that require more privacy are placed under the mezzanine level, while individual offices are placed above, offering two additional types of spaces to the generous open office floor.
